My fave neighborhood in Madrid, Malasaña

I’m writing this on an eight hour flight back to New York, several days later than I was supposed to fly home. I’ll spare you the details, but I missed my connection back to New York and got stuck in Italy for a week. Unfortunately because I didn’t book the trip on my credit card, I had no coverage to pay for accommodation for the extra nights I had to spend in Florence (never travel without insurance!). The minor fiasco—and ensuing few days free to wander Florence—got me thinking about travel advice I’d give if someone asked.

I’m by no means an expert, but since I travel for a “living,” I like to think I’ve gotten pretty good at this whole travel thing. So, in light of it being the busiest travel weekend of the year, I thought I’d share some of my travel tips and hacks (for the first time ever!).
