Baby I'm Sorry (I'm Not Sorry)
Women: on screen, the red carpet and the trails; in the bedroom and the kitchen.
No essay this week, I’m sorry! But also I’m not — because as a woman, I apologize enough (yep, I just referenced Demi Lovato).
At first glance, I struggled to see a unifying theme to this week’s hodgepodge of goodies, but it soon became clear: women.
From the trails to the television, I see women commanding spaces they’ve long been denied. I see women in the kitchen, disrupting their respective markets with plant-based sweets, eats and supplements. I see women seeking justice for sexual assault, confronting their imposter syndrome over their race or disability. Whether it’s reimagining a dress from a time when women were severely repressed or wearing their emotions on the red carpet, I see women unapologetically embracing themselves both in the spotlight and in the privacy of their bedrooms. And in seeing them, I’m reminded to see myself, and for that I’m grateful.
Best,
Anna
